Iain focuses on maximizing output from a low input extensive system on his 2,700 acre upland estate. Iain uses Beef Shorthorn cross Highlanders as his suckler cows and a Charolais terminal sire. This visit is being organized jointly with the Charolais and Highland cattle societies. The event is being kindly sponsored by SAC and Ian Pritchard and Gavin Hill from SAC will be in attendance to answer any questions about profitable beef production from the suckler herd or the importance of high health status in the suckler herd. Barbara Webster of Pedigree Cattle Services will also be in attendance to explain the importance of using EBVs in bull selection. There will be a judging competition with two pens of cattle to judge and the afternoon will conclude with BBQ refreshments.
